Invisible Children

I think I've already mentioned Invisible Children, but if not, it's a club that I'm vice president of at my school. The point of the club is to raise awareness and money about the war going on in Uganda, specifically about the child soldiers. It's some really horrific stuff so this organization does it's best to raise money to build schools, get supplies, etc., for the child soldiers. If you want to read more background on it, you can go here: http://www2.invisiblechildren.com/

Two days ago we had our big end of the year event. We went around the school and used chalk to write all over the courtyard to promote the showing of our informational video that was showed last night. They did it last year, I think, and it went really well. I could only stay for two hours and mainly worked on posters the whole time, but it was still fun. I'm a little upset with the general student population because there were only like three people outside of the club that actually showed up at the showing last night. In some part, it was poor planning, because lots of summer sports/ activities had meetings last night, so I myself wasn't even able to go, but I still would've expected more than three people to attend.

On a totally different subject, my marketing class is studying social media, which means that we will have to create some sort of tutorial video. If you have any ideas for a video that would be great! I don't really want to do a food one, nor do I want to do something too repetitive like an instructional video on how to do a fishtail braid. Please post your ideas below in the comments!

We got our yearbooks yesterday and I was kind of mad that I didn't appear on the fashion page since most everyone who knows me, knows that's my thing. There was even a quote on the page, one that I have used on here before; fashions fade, style is eternal. Which you readers probably know was said by Yves Saint Laurent. Well in the yearbook they didn't even cite who the quote was by and I couldn't find one person who knew who that quote was from. Grrr....

Over the weekend we went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and it was really good. I was a little worried that I wouldn't like it because Penelope Cruz has irritated me in some of her past movies but I really liked her in this one, and of course Johnny Depp was fabulous!

Here is a picture of my name that I had done while in Victoria. There is a lady who works as one of the vendors down by the docks across form the capitol building. She makes these for about twenty dollars and does them in about a minute. They are simply fantastic! I tried looking for her online and I think I may have found her but I'm not sure if it is the same person or not. The type of writing she does for them is a specific kind of Korean calligraphy that is about four thousand years old. It's really cool to watch someone make one and if you're ever in Victoria, Canada I highly suggest going there. Also, here is her website (I think): http://www.yournameinpictures.com/index.html .

Better be going. We have a standardized math test tomorrow and I really need some sleep. See you all tomorrow!

French word of the day: Annuaire which is French for the word yearbook.
